Abstract

The second issue of Volume 9 of the journal Literacy, Pre-literacy and Education is thematically focused on literacies across educational domains. It presents a collection of studies reflecting diverse approaches to the development of literacies in contemporary educational theory and practice, addressing both the prevention of school failure and the support of key skills essential for successful learning. The issue includes research studies devoted to the support of language skills in pupils with special educational needs at the primary level of compulsory schooling, the use of digital applications in music education, the impact of generative artificial intelligence on pupils’ creativity in creative writing, and possibilities for fostering social literacy through bibliotherapy in preschool and early primary education. Attention is also paid to the prevention of risks associated with digital environments, issues of digital literacy and wellbeing, inclusive education for university students with visual impairments, and the relationship between vocabulary development and the comprehension of more complex tasks in early education. Overall, this issue offers a broad range of theoretical, empirical, and methodological contributions that demonstrate the breadth of contemporary conceptualisations of literacies and their specific manifestations across different educational domains, while providing inspiration and practical insights for educators across educational levels.
